The Fittest City In America

These days more and more people are trying to get healthy and fit, but it seems folks in some places are more successful at it than others, and a new report identifies which cities in the country are doing their best at staying fit.

The 11th annual American Fitness Index, released by the American College of Sports Medicine, is out, ranking the 100 largest cities on factors like fitness, nutrition, chronic disease, smoking, mental health, access to parks and public transportation.

Topping the list this year is Arlington, Virginia, with a score of 77.9. The city gets high marks for their very low smoking rate, 5.9% which is much less than the 15% average of the 100 largest cities. Coming in a close second is Minneapolis, Minnesota (77.2), followed by Washington DC (74).
