The Twitter account at Wendy's is on fire and has been for a while, and it’s so hot, the team behind Wendy’s Twitter even did their own Ask Me Anything on Reddit. And with rival McDonald’s recent announcement about adding fresh beef has taken it next-level.
It started last year when McDonald’s first shared the fresh beef news and Wendy’s had a response online within an hour, tweeting, “@McDonalds So you'll still use frozen beef in MOST of your burgers in ALL of your restaurants? Asking for a friend."
Wendy’s also grabbed the opportunity to roast their fast food foe when McDonald’s made the error of posting a Black Friday tweet placeholder that read, “****Need copy and link****.” They hit back with “When the tweets are as broken as the ice cream machine.”
And when the Super Bowl broadcast was interrupted for 30 seconds, Wendy’s didn’t miss the chance to jab McDonald’s for freezing the game, tweeting, “Y’all freeze that live feed.”
Then when Mickey D’s recently announced those fresh beef quarter-pounders would be here soon, Wendy’s hit back, reminding customers the rest of McDonald’s beef is still frozen. Wendy’s tweeted, Hey @McDonalds, heard the news. Happy #NationalFrozenFoodDay to you for all the frozen beef that’s sticking around in your cheeseburgers.”
