You Can't Fly Your Drone Over Mount Rushmore

If you want to fly your drone over Mount Rushmore – or the Statue of Liberty or Hoover Dam – you better do it this week, because the FAA put new rules in place restricting drone flights up to 400 feet away from 10 landmarks in America.

Starting Thursday, you won’t be able to get up close and personal with the following landmarks:

  • Statue of Liberty
  • Boston National Historical Park (U.S.S. Constitution)
  • Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia
  • Folsom Dam in Folsom, California
  • Glen Canyon Dam in Lake Powell, Arizona
  • Grand Coulee Dam in the state of Washington
  • Hoover Dam
  • The St. Louis Arch
  • Mount Rushmore
  • Shasta Dam in California

Of course, other sites could be added to the list as the FAA is considering requests from other federal agencies that want their stuff protected too. (Consumerist)
