Breadcrumbs and space just don’t mix.
Supposedly, back in 1965, two American astronauts smuggled a sandwich aboard Gemini 3 – and crumbs from the rye bread caused trouble in the zero-gravity environment. After that, NASA banned bread on all space missions.
That all might be changing ... because scientists have developed a crumb-free bread. The new dough mixture, along with a custom-designed oven, will be tested on a German mission to the International Space Station.
This is great news, especially with all the talk about longer space trips on the horizon – and space tourism.
Because everyone knows that man cannot live on tortilla wraps alone.
