Scientist Figured Out how to Grow Potatoes on Mars

It’s only a matter of time before we land a person – or a group of people – on Mars, especially considering scientists in Peru have figured out how to grow potatoes on Mars.

Researchers at the Potato Center – which is a real thing – working with NASA identified a type of potato that will grow well in the harsh climate of Mars, which includes low temperatures and high levels of carbon dioxide.

One scientist familiar with the project called the potato a "super potato" and its discovery means we're one step closer to sustaining life on another planet. (Vice)
