A California man wrongly convicted for a 1978 double-murder is spending his first Thanksgiving as a free man in nearly 40 years. Governor Jerry Brown pardoned 70-year-old Craig Coley yesterday after DNA evidence exonerated him of the murder of an ex-girlfriend and her 4-year-old son. Police in Simi Valley, a city outside of Los Angeles where the crime took place, say Coley was released from prison shortly after the pardon. Authorities say newly discovered samples from a key piece of evidence were analyzed and showed Coley's DNA was not present.
Coley has always maintained his innocence.
