MARION, OH – Aqua Ohio’s Marion Division will conduct water main flushing in the coming weeks. Flushing involves opening select fire hydrants to remove sediment that accumulates within water mains that route water throughout the systems.
The Marion Service Area including Marion, Caledonia, Martel and Prospect will be flushed Monday, October 23 through Monday, October 30 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Village of LaRue Service Area will be flushed Tuesday October 31 through Friday November 3 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
No interruptions in water service will occur as a result of the flushing but customers may notice a drop in water pressure or temporary water discoloration. If possible, customers should refrain from doing laundry to avoid possible staining while the flushing is taking place near their home.
If tap water is discolored, allow the water to run (cold only) until clear. Running several cold-water faucets at the same time will help the water clear faster. Customers should try not to use their hot water until water is running clear because it can introduce the discolored water to their hot water tank and make the issue last longer.
Flushing is an important part of Aqua’s regular maintenance program. It ensures hydrants and valves are working properly and helps prevent sediment buildup. Aqua Ohio consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards and maintaining the distribution system helps preserve that quality and reliability.
