Bay Village Police Blotter Jan 24th - 30th

On 01/24/2023, at 1559 hrs, a female came to BVPD to have her vehicle released from a previous enforcement tow. While speaking with the female, it was determined she had an active arrest warrant with Avon PD. Avon confirmed the warrant, and the female was transported to meet an Avon unit without incident.

On 01/24/2023, at 2306 hrs, a resident in the 26000 block of Knickerbocker called BVPD to report a truck with a blue flashing light had pulled up in front of his house and was shining a flashlight around. The vehicle left while the caller was still on the phone. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

On 01/26/2023, at 0219 hrs, a BVPD officer located a vehicle parked behind a business in the 27000 block of Knickerbocker. Two people were going through the dumpster, taking scrap metal. The duo claimed to have permission from the owners of the business, but due to the hour, the officers were suspicious. The two were advised and sent on their way. They later followed up with the business owner, who indicated he had given them permission.

On 01/28/2023, at 2101 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. Near Porter Creek for a traffic violation. After speaking with the female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The 27-year-old Avon Lake resident will face charges at RRCM.

On 01/28/2023, at 0256 hrs, a BVPD officer was flagged down by a newspaper deliverer who reported a house on Cliff with an open front door. Officers checked the interior of the house, and all appeared ok. No one was home, but contact was later made with the homeowner, who indicated it must have been an oversight by the dog walker.

On 01/29/2023, at 1747 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Naigle near the county line for multiple traffic violations. After speaking with the male driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The 48-year-old Avon Lake resident will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/29/2023, at 0333 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on East Oviatt near Glen Park for multiple traffic violations. After speaking with the female driver, the officer suspected the driver had been drinking. Field sobriety tests were administered, and as a result, the driver was arrested for OVI. The 60-year-old Bay Village resident will face charges at RRMC.

On 01/30/2023, at 1339 hrs, a resident came to BVPD to report he was possibly being scammed. Someone had called him pretending to be a Federal agent telling him his identity had been stolen. The caller said the male needed to purchase Walmart vouchers to regain his identity. The resident felt this was suspicious and came to BVPD. While speaking with an officer, the resident kept the caller on the line. The officer said to the caller, who promptly hung up. BVPD reminds residents that no reputable organization will ask them to pay in gift cards.
