Marion Mayor Scott Schertzer joined the show to discuss where The City of Marion is today and where it's heading under his leadership in 2023, which he has announced, on this show, will be his last, as he will not seek re-election after his four terms as mayor are complete at the end of this year.
Scott Schertzer has made the difficult decision to not seek reelection as Mayor of the City of Marion. Schertzer became the Mayor of the City of Marion in 2008 and led the city through the challenging times of an economic recession, the opiate epidemic and the global pandemic. Mayor Schertzer has also presided over a city that has made historic achievements, such as a revitalized downtown and a significantly low unemployment rate.
“After 16 years as Mayor of my hometown, Ann and I have decided that now is the best time to seek new challenges. I love Marion and will always be grateful for the opportunities this community has given to me and my family, but I feel that it is time to look for new ways for me to continue to serve.” Schertzer said.
Mayor Schertzer will continue to work on behalf of the citizens and serve the remainder of his term
