UPDATE: Victim Identified in North Side Shooting That Resulted in Murder

On 8-20-22 at 0011 hours, Marion Police Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of Adams Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 17- year-old male subject who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Marion General Hospital and pronounced deceased as a result of the shooting. The victim is being identified as 17-year-old Anthony Jamear Douglas of Marion.

Through investigation of this incident, Detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Murder for Marquis Deshun Adams, age 18 of Marion. Adams is 6’3” and 175 pounds. As of the issuance of this release, Adams has not been located.

“This is an incredible tragedy that is devastating to so many people in our community”, said Maj. B.J. Gruber of the Marion Police Department. “As a community and as a country, we must find ways to teach our young people to resolve conflict without violence”.

MPD was aided by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Highway Patrol, Marion County Coroner’s Office, Marion City Fire Department and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Adams should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Marion County Combined Dispatch Center at 740-387- 2525 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
