Fatal Stabbing at River Bend Campground Early Sunday Morning!

On July 3, 2022, at 0233, Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Responded to River Bend Campground at 1092 Whetstone River Road South for a report of a female unresponsive after some sort of fight.

First Consolidated Fire Department’s squad was dispatched along with the Deputies. Upon their arrival on scene, the female was no longer breathing, and CPR was in progress. The victim was found to be suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to Marion General Hospital where shortly thereafter she was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses had advised that the suspect had left on a motorcycle. Deputy John Endicott located the suspect while he was in route to the scene and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect was transported to Marion General Hospital for injuries that he sustained during the original incident. After he received treatment, he was arrested and transported to the Multi-County Jail on a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter. The case will be presented to the Marion County Prosecutors Office for the filing of formal charges.
