Domestic Violence Call Leads to Standoff Type Situation

On May 28, 2022, officers responded to 133 Johnson St at 11:01 p.m., for a report of domestic violence. The victim alleged that her live-in boyfriend, Raymond. L. Wilson (DOB 11/14/72) had assaulted her and held her against her will in the home. Mr. Wilson had fled the scene prior to the officers arrival. There was also an allegation that Mr. Wilson was armed with a firearm.

On May 29, 2022 around 8:23 a.m., officers responded back to 133 Johnson to look for Mr. Wilson. Officers believe they heard a male inside the residence when attempting to make contact with Mr. Wilson. A perimeter was set up and a search warrant was obtained. Marion Special Response Team was activated and responded to assist, along with crisis negotiators. The Delaware Tactical Unit also responded to assist with manpower due to the extended period of time that this event occurred over. Immediate neighbors were evacuated from their homes for their safety and the roadway was closed to all traffic on Johnson St.

Contact was made with Mr. Wilson via his cellphone. Discussions took place over a period of hours. Neighbors advised officers that they saw Mr. Wilson in the home during this. CS gas was deployed into the home after negotiations stalled. Eventually, officers made entry into the home and Mr. Wilson was not located in the residence.

“We had every indication that Mr. Wilson was inside that home, from his words and the observations of officers and neighbors. However, we did not find him in the home but we will keep looking. Mr. Wilson has pending charges of Domestic Violence; Abduction; and Inducing Panic. We will keep looking for Mr. Wilson until he is found. I want to thank the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Delaware Tactical Unit for their assistance and the Johnson St. neighborhood for their help during this long day” said Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald.

This investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Raymond Lamark Wilson should call the Marion Police Department at 740-387-2525 or the Marion TIPS Line at 740-375-TIPS.
