Suspect In Child Enticement Attempt in Marion Identified!

UPDATE: Sheriff Matt Bayles is happy to announce that with tips from the public and a diligent investigation, the suspect in his case was identified, arrested and taken to Multi County Jail by 11:30pm.

The suspect was identified as:

Jonah George Kigge

199 W. First St. #2

Mansfield, OH 44902

26 years of age

Charges: Criminal Child Enticement

Currently on Probation out of Marion Municipal Court

Further Investigation continues on other incidents this subject may have been involved in.

Sheriff Bayles stated, "Once again the public showed how they work to be our eyes and ears. Tips came in after the photo was released on Facebook asking for help in identifying the suspect. This led to an arrest of a dangerous person who may also suffer from mental illness."

On March 28, 2022, at approximately 11:11am the Marion County Central Dispatch Center took a call in regard to a suspicious incident that occurred at approximately 9am that day at Walmart on Marion Mt. Gilead Rd. The mother advised that a male in his mid to late 20's or early 30's attempted to get her 11-year-old son to leave the store with him.

Deputies investigated the incident and found that a black male was acting very suspicious around the front entrance of the store at that time, he was seen on video for approximately 45 minutes prior to approaching the youth near the vision center at the front of the store. Deputies were able to identify the vehicle the subject arrived in and have still photos of the subject and the vehicle. The vehicle is believed to be a dark colored 2008 to 2012 Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute and may have front end damage. It was reported that this subject asked the child to show him where the exit was and started to walk away with him before his mother yelled at the subject. This subject then let the area, there was no actual physical contact between the subject and the child.
