On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint at approximately 10:56 am about a red Dodge truck swerving in its lane of travel. The vehicle was driving southbound on State Route 4 in Leesburg Township.
A deputy located the vehicle near the intersection of State Route 4 and Collins Avenue and attempted to stop the truck for a traffic violation. The truck fled and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit traveled into the City of Marysville and then exited the City of Marysville on Milford Avenue. The vehicle then fled south on State Route 4 traveling through the Village of Milford Center, turned into a private farm lane, and then drove on an abandon railroad bed. The vehicle re-entered the roadway on Connor Road and fled into Champaign County on Urbana Woodstock Pike.
The vehicle was found on McCarty Road in Champaign County where it drove into a farm field and was abandon. The two suspects in the vehicle fled on foot. A search for the suspects was initiated by deputies from Union and Champaign County, a K9 unit from the Saint Paris Police Department, units from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and a helicopter from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The suspect vehicle, a red 1998 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck, was determined to have been stolen from the City of Bucyrus. The vehicle was impounded by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
During the search, a female suspect was located walking near the intersection of Urbana Woodstock Pike and Park Road in Champaign County. She has been identified as, Brittany L. Jobe, age 29 of Galloway. She was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Madison County. She was transported to the Tri County Regional Jail.
An extensive air and ground search was conducted for a second male suspect, but he was not located initially. At approximately 4:40 pm, after multiple reports from local citizens, deputies from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office arrested the second suspect in a fence line approximately seventy-five feet off the roadway in the 10000 block of Urbana Woodstock Pike. The second suspect has been identified as Brandon H. Webb, age 43 of Galloway. He was transported to the Tri County Regional Jail and is being held on multiple outstanding warrants and is facing additional charges of fleeing and eluding and receiving stolen property.
The case will be presented to a future Union County Grand Jury for consideration of additional charges. The incident remains under investigation.
