Since 2011, Rev. Kenneth Daniel has been the president and CEO of United Church Homes, a multisite sponsor of senior residential and care facilities based in Marion, Ohio. UCH currently owns and manages 7 Life Plan retirement communities, 5 skilled nursing and assisted living centers, and 63 affordable housing sites in 14 states and 2 Native American tribal lands. UCH is the 60th largest non-profit senior living provider in the nation serving over 4000 people with over 1500 employees nationwide. The Marion headquarters employs about 60 people.
A licensed nursing home administrator, Rev. Daniel has worked in a variety of positions of responsibility in senior healthcare and housing services over the past 30 years. From 1989 through 2008, Rev. Daniel worked in the senior living, affordable housing, and skilled nursing care departments with Phoebe Ministries, Allentown, PA. He rose to the rank of Vice President of Operations for the Allentown Campus from 2004 to 2008. From 2008 to 2010 he served as Executive Director of Ingleside at Rock Creek, a Presbyterian retirement community in Washington, DC. Immediately prior to joining United Church Homes, Rev. Daniel was interim president of Lancaster Theological Seminary.
Active in the United Church of Christ (UCC) and various senior living industry trade associations, Rev. Daniel currently chairs the national board of directors of the Council of Health and Human Service Ministries of the UCC, Cleveland. In addition, he is vice-chair of the Leading Age Ohio board in Columbus. Rev. Daniel serves as a Senior Examiner for the American Health Care Association’s Silver Quality Award program. He also serves on the board of trustees of Lancaster Theological Seminary. He is past member of the boards for the Marion, OH, Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Matters organization. Rev. Daniel also serves on a variety of other church and nonprofit boards. An ordained minister, Rev. Daniel started his career as Pastor of St. Andrew’s UCC in Reading, PA from 1981 to 1989.
Rev. Daniel also holds a master's degree in public administration from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. In addition, he earned master's degrees from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities (MN) and from Moravian Theological Seminary (PA). Rev. Daniel earned Fellow status with the American College of Health Care Administrators.
He is married to the Rev. Barbara Kershner Daniel, senior pastor of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, Frederick, Maryland. They have two adult sons.
