OhioHealth Offering Lung Cancer Screenings in Marion

MARION, Ohio — OhioHealth is participating in National Lung Cancer Screening Day on November 11, 2023, to help save lives by increasing awareness of lung cancer screening in all our communities. Lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. The best chance of a cure is early detection.

Screenings are being offered on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital, 1000 McKinley Park Drive, Marion.

An order is needed from the patients’ physician for screening, which is covered by most insurance.

To register for a screening, call OhioHealth Marion General Hospital Imaging at (740) 383-8600. Registration for this event ends October 30.

Lung cancer claims the lives of more than 127,000 Americans every year, but only a small percentage of individuals get the recommended screening. The goal of this event is to increase screening access for people who must work on weekdays so that they can access lung cancer screening services that might save their lives.

Screening is recommended if there is a family history of lung cancer or if a person is between the ages of 50 to 80 years old and is a current or former smoker with at least a 20 pack-year history (the number of packs a day multiplied by the number of years you smoked equals “pack-years”). Former smokers must have quit within the last 15 years.
