Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Maple Ridge Road Crash

The Union County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Monday evening in Allen Township. On May 2, 2022, at approximately 5:59 pm, the Sherriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting a pedestrian, who was walking along the roadway in the 14000 block of Maple Ridge Road, was struck by a white truck that fled from the scene. Deputies and units from the Allen Township Fire Department and the Marysville Fire Department responded to the scene. When deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive female victim lying in a ditch line. Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hospital and she was later flown to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by MedFlight. The victim succumbed to her injuries and has been identified as Angela N. LeMasters, age 41 of Milford Center.

The preliminary investigation has determined the victim was walking in the gravel berm in a northwest direction on Maple Ridge Road, south of Collins Road. The white truck involved was traveling northwest on Maple Ridge Road when it struck the victim with the passenger side front quarter panel and passenger side mirror. Deputies and Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office canvased the area and located the suspect vehicle at a residence in the 21000 block of State Route 245. The truck involved was determined to be a 2017 Ford F-250. The alleged driver of the truck has been identified by investigators, but has not been charged at this time. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation and charges are anticipated when the case is presented to a future Union County Grand Jury.
