Buckeye Chuck is set to poke his head out of his burrow in Marion, Ohio on Groundhog Day, February 2, 2022.
By proclamation of the State of Ohio in 1979, Buckeye Chuck is Ohio’s official weather prognosticating groundhog. This is his 42nd year!
Chuck has been studying weather patterns, jet stream anomalies, computer models, and napping in order to procure Ohio’s most accurate springtime forecast. Buckeye Chuck is preparing to emerge from his personal den, in the woods behind the studios of WMRN Radio in Marion, to deliver Ohio's annual forecast. Not since the creation of the Doppler Radar has any weather-related event been talked about with such anticipation. Legend says if Buckeye Chuck sees his shadow at sunrise, Ohioans will have to deal with 6 more weeks of winter, so we’ll be hoping for a cloudy morning on Wednesday, February 2nd.
Buckeye Chuck will be greeting his adoring public in-person, on-the-air at AM-1490 WMRN and FREE on the iHeartRadio app, anywhere in the world, AND on a LIVESTREAM Video on his Official Buckeye Chuck Facebook Page. The LIVE broadcast is from 7:00 to 8:00am. It’s an event that no Ohioan will want to miss.At around 7:40 am, Buckeye Chuck will deliver the forecast for the remainder of winter.
This event is presented by Scioto Shoe Mart.
Buckeye Chuck is also asking you to support the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry by taking a donation of cash or a non-perishable food, valued over $5, to Scioto Shoe Mart at 206 James Way in Marion on Groundhog Day. The first 100 who donate, will receive a Hessler’s Screen Printing and More “I Heart Buckeye Chuck” T-Shirt, while supplies last!
