Marion Police Seek Leads In Armed Robbery of Local Convenience Store

On October 21st, 2021 at 8:46 a.m., Marion Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Norris Grocery on Bennett Street. The suspect fled the store Eastbound prior to the arrival of officers and was described as a black male, dressed in all black clothing and wearing a ski mask style facial covering. Numerous accounts of the suspect’s description were provided by witnesses in the immediate area.

Officers arrived at the store, established a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. A Marion County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team was called to the area to search for the suspect who was in possession of a handgun and fled the scene with an undisclosed quantity of cash which was stolen in the commission of the armed robbery.

Investigators began to process the crime scene and ultimately collected evidence, including surveillance video. A determination was made by investigators that the subject observed on video was likely a white male, wearing all dark clothing, a black hooded sweatshirt (with the hood almost entirely obscuring the face), black sweatpants and tan colored work boots. Additionally, the suspect is described as 6 feet tall and of slender build.
