On June 24, 2021 at 9:00 a.m., members of the Marion Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office will participate in a run from Marion City Hall to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to raise awareness and funds for the Marion County participants in Special Olympics.
The members of the Marion Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Counter Assault Team (CAT) will all participate in the run, along with other members of law enforcement and supporters.
The Steve Young Memorial Lodge of the Marion County Fraternal Order of Police will make a donation to the Marion County Special Olympics and encourages others to consider a donation. “Marion law enforcement has had a special and long term relationship with Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run and this event is great way to give back to the community and to continue to make an #MPACT in Marion” said Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald.
The public is invited to Marion City Hall to witness the start of the run or the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to see the finish and show encouragement to the Special Olympians who will be in attendance.
