One Person Seriously Injured in Union County Motorcycle Crash Monday

On Monday, August 17, 2020 at approximately 7:09 pm, the Union County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on Middleburg Plain City Road, west of Streng Road in Union Township. Deputies and units from the Union Township Fire Department, Marysville Fire Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Careflight was called to the scene and transported the driver of the motorcycle to Grant Hospital in Columbus. The driver was listed in critical but stable condition with multiple injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu traveling eastbound on Middleburg Plain City Road attempted to turn into a front yard at 19622 Middleburg Plain City Road. The driver of the Chevrolet failed to yield to a 1995 Yamaha motorcycle that was traveling westbound on Middleburg Plain City Road and struck the motorcycle head-on. Alcohol, drugs, and speed are not considered to be factors in the crash at this time and no other injuries were reported. Middleburg-Plain City Road was closed for approximately four and a half hours and the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
