On Friday, August 7, 2020 at 11:37 a.m., Officers and Detectives from the Marion Police Department responded to 403 Fahey Street for a report of a female who had been shot. Upon their arrival, they located a 19-year-old female who had been shot in the torso. Her injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. She was transported to Marion General Hospital by Marion City Fire Department Squad and later transferred by helicopter to Grant Hospital.
At 3:17 p.m., Marion Police arrested Mickayla K. Edwards, age 20 of Marion for Felonious Assault. Cali R. Parrish, age 19 of Marion, was arrested for Complicity to Felonious Assault. Each were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges from the Marion County Prosecutor, Ray Grogan.
“The rash of gun violence that Marion is experiencing is extremely worrisome to the police department and to the community. These incredibly violent incidents are becoming more and more common, but the Marion Police Department is committed to bringing those who resort to gun violence to justice” said Marion Police Major Jay McDonald.
