MONNIN TO TEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL LANGUAGE ARTS & SOCIAL STUDIES AT ST MARY

MARION, OH -- St. Mary School welcomes Quintin Monnin as the school’s new middle school English language arts and social studies educator. Monnin hails from Sidney, Ohio, and is an honors graduate of Bowling Green State University.

“Quintin is an outstanding scholar and brings a depth of experience to our already accomplished faculty,” said Rev. Thomas Buffer, pastor of St. Mary Parish. “St. Mary School offers small student-teacher classroom ratios in kindergarten through eighth grade. Cumulatively, the faculty has more than 139 years of teaching experience."

"I am very honored to have been offered the position and be able to give back to Catholic education which served me so well in my own life.," said Monnin. "The small class sizes, close knit community, and high achievement rates of Catholic schools were what attracted me to St. Mary."

Monnin earned his Masters of History degree with honors from Bowling Green State University this past May. He also earned his Bachelor of Science degree there, with emphasis in Adolescent to Young Adult Integrated Social Studies, and minors in History and Political Science. While at Bowling Green, Monnin served as a graduate assistant in the History department and is experienced with the creation of materials and delivery of instruction for online courses, transition to online educational instruction techniques, and online coursework assessments. He completed student teaching in Van Buren, Bowling Green, and Toledo area high schools and is experienced in teaching world and American history, economics, and sociology.

"My biggest goals as a teacher include gaining experience with diverse a student population, and to be able to grow more in my own faith while educating students and preparing them to be good, civically engaged citizens," said Monnin.

St. Mary School has served the Marion community as a parochial school option for more than 125 years. It is an OCSAA accredited Catholic K-8 school providing a Catholic education which focuses on academic excellence and spiritual guidance with highly qualified teachers in a safe, structured community.

“Our school helps students become self-disciplined, independent, life-long learners who grow to understand the obligations of human life, the dignity of the individual and the shared responsibility for our common good,” said Buffer.

St. Mary’s faculty and staff of 19 includes classroom teachers in kindergarten through grade eight, music, religion, technology, physical education, and speech/hearing services. Fall 2020 enrollment is in progress.  Inquiries may be made by calling 740-382-1607.
