MARION, OH–Aqua announced today that the company is activating a new water tower to improve service in the Marion area water system. The tower was constructed over the past 17 months at the intersection of Route 23 and Marion-Mt. Gilead Road behind the Tri-Rivers Career Center.
The million-gallon 130 feet tall tower will help assure adequate water pressure and enhance water supply in the eastern portion of the system, which serves the City of Marion, Prospect, Caledonia and Martel. “Aqua” and “Tri-Rivers” logos were painted near the top of the tower.
“This project is important to assure that we can deliver adequate pressure and water flows in the growing eastern portion of the water system, especially during times of extreme needs such as fire fighting,” said Aqua Ohio’s Area Manager, Scott Ballenger. “It also provides storage to keep water flowing should we have a large main break between the tower and our water treatment plant on Marion’s west side.”
The cost of the project was $3.2 million.Aqua typically invests between $30 million and $40 million a year in infrastructure among its 38 Ohio water and wastewater systems. In 2020, their plans include $53.4 million in Ohio water and wastewater improvements.
