COVID Causes Postponements or Cancellations of Marion Palace Theatre Events

It is with deep disappointment that Palace Theatre management announces the cancellation of the theatre’s summer musical production for July 2020. This decision was reached based upon the continuation of group gathering restrictions and with the realization that theatres reopening is in the final phase of the Governor's plan to get Ohio back to work.

“In these uncertain times, many are being required to make unprecedented and difficult decisions. This is more than the loss of a show. It is the loss of a tradition, and it is a heartbreaking announcement. Please know we continue to prepare for an outstanding 2020-21 season and anxiously await your return to the stage and to the seats,” relates Executive Director Bev Ford.

Other events impacted by COVID-19:

• Jefferson Starship, 5.2.20 (RESCHEDULED to August 1, 2020)

• Summer Musical Auditions, 5.17.20 (CANCELLED)

• Improv in the May, 5.15.20 (CANCELLED)

• “Nunsense II,” 6.5.20 & 6.5.20 (CANCELLED)

• Tuesday Rotary Club of Marion lunch meetings are suspended until further notice

Previously purchased tickets to rescheduled events will be honored at the new date. Ticket holders will be contacted by Palace staff members.

Additionally, the Palace is following the guidance of local, state, and federal officials and has closed the box office until further notice. Administration staff will continue to work in the business offices or remotely from home.

The Palace has also implemented recommendations issued by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the US Department of Labor/OSHA to ensure the theatre will be completely sanitized and prepared when events resume. The Marion Palace Theatre staff has cleaned and disinfected all surfaces that can be touched in and around our venue as part of our enhanced cleaning procedures including auditorium seats, door handles, handrails, and all other high-profile areas.

At press time, management continues to evaluate and work toward a determination on the Academy of the Arts Summer Theatre Camp (July 20-24 and July 27-31).
