Wyandot County Coronavirus Updates

Wyandot County Public Health wants to keep the residents of Wyandot County properly informed, healthy, and safe. The Health Department continues to work closely with the Ohio Department of Health and the medical community to monitor and prepare for potential local cases of the corona (COVID-19) virus. As of March 13 there are 13 confirmed cases in Ohio, and no documented cases in Wyandot County.

The Ohio Governor and the Ohio Department of Health continue to take measures, which included the closing of schools and prohibiting mass gatherings of over 100 people, in attempt to limit and slow the spread of the virus in communities. In addition, limitations on visitors to nursing homes and monitoring of visitors and employees have also been put in place to protect the health of the most vulnerable of our population. These important measures are in place to slow the transfer of the disease, and allow our health system to care for those who may become seriously ill.

As we move through the response to COVID-19, the Health Department continues to recommend the following public health guidance to prevent the spread of disease in communities.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
