Marion City Council Sets Policies For Coronavirus Concerns

City Council is working to proactively ensure the health and safety of our citizens, as well as employees and officials of the city. In order to reduce the number of public gatherings, but assure that the necessary business of the City is conducted, the following decisions have been made:

  • ALL Marion City Council Committee Meetings called for 03/16/2020 have been cancelled by the committee chairs.
  • Council members, in conjunction with the Mayor and staff, are prioritizing proposed legislation that is urgent and “necessary” to conduct the business of the City. These items will be placed on a stream-lined agenda for the council meeting scheduled 03/23/2020, without committee consideration and in accordance with Council Rule 51.
  • Council meetings will continue to be open to community members who wish to attend in person. All attendees should be mindful of the risks associated with attending large gatherings and should remain at home if they are ill or part of an at-risk group.
  • The public is reminded that council members and staff are available to answer questions by phone and email prior to the meeting. Also, citizens may provide written statements regarding issues of concern that will be included as part of the meeting record. All meetings continue to be available to be viewed on the council’s YouTube channel

If circumstances in Marion County change and conditions are warranted, additional changes may occur. If so, additional information will be relayed to the media and shared on the City of Marion website.

Please stay safe and follow public health guidance to reduce the further spread of the Coronovirus (COVID-19). For additional information about the virus in Ohio, please see the Ohio Department of Health website.
