Early Morning Shooting Suspect Arrested in Marion!

On 03/04/2020 The Marion County Sheriff’s Office Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 6:17am of a female who had been shot in the back in the 1900 block of Marion Mt. Gilead Road. Deputies and Marion Township Fire and EMS were dispatched and upon arrival found a 25 year old female suffering from a gunshot wound to her back and the male suspect had fled the scene. The female victim was transported to the Ohio Health Marion General Hospital by squad.

The male suspect, 25 year old Joseph M. Roeder was located in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Marion Waldo Road inside of his vehicle. Roeder was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Multi County Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, kidnapping, and having weapons while under disability. The female was transported from Ohio Health Marion General Hospital by a medical helicopter and her condition was stable prior to being flown to Columbus.

Sheriff’s Office detectives and deputies executed a search warrant at the scene of the incident and a firearm was located. The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office at the scene. Sheriff Tim Bailey stated “I am appreciative of our observant deputy on patrol who saw the vehicle, recognized it as the suspect’s vehicle, and was able to apprehend this violent suspect before he could harm someone else.” At this time there is no other information available due to this being an ongoing investigation.
