MARMET Police Serve Warrant on Local After-Hours Club

On February 9, 2020, the MARMET Drug Task Force with the assistance of the Marion City Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Investigative Unit, and the Marion City Law Director’s Office executed a search warrant at 646 N. Main Street in Marion where an after-hours club known as “The Playground” was operating.

The focus of the search warrant was due to illegal sales of alcohol without a permit and drug use inside the establishment. The warrant was served just after 1am.

MARMET was assisted with this two-month long investigation by the Ohio Investigative Unit which investigates the sale of alcohol with and without a permit.

During a search of premises, detectives seized cash, alcohol, marijuana, and a firearm. Since the time of the warrant, the operator advised the business will close and no longer operate. Three people from this investigation were charged this week and are expected in Marion Municipal Court next week.

Sharina King age 37 of Marion, Ohio was charged with one count of Keeping a Place Where Beer or Intoxicating Liquor is Sold.

Jonathan Veasley age 34 of Marion, Ohio was charged with one count of Keeping a Place Where Beer or Intoxicating Liquor is Sold.

Shaquita Lewis age 41 of Marion, Ohio was charged with one count of Selling Alcohol without a Permit.
