The Marion City Police Department has added two new officers. The department welcomed Ryan Kelly and Corey Galyk to the force on Monday. Both officers were sworn in by Mayor Scott Schertzer and came to the MPD by way of the Marion County Sheriff’s office.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says hunters in the Buckeye state nabbed nearly 12-thousand more deer this season than one year ago. Officials released county by county totals this week with a final state count of just over 184-thousand deer in 2019-2020, which is up from 172-thousand last year. Coshocton County led Ohio followed by Tuscarawas, Ashtabula, Muskingum, and Licking rounding out the top five.
Tuesday morning fire crews from Marion City and other’s battled two blazes. One, on Chestnut Street and the other on Uncapher Avenue. No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is assisting both families of four.
Also yesterday morning around 2:15 AM, Bucyrus City Police officers responded to a burglar alarm at Preferred Wireless on North Sandusky Avenue. Officers arrived to find a smashed window and electronic devices missing.
A new study by the University of Cincinnati showed that obtaining Naloxone without a prescription has made a huge impact in Ohio. The drug was made available to purchase from a pharmacy without a prescription in mid-2015. It reverses the effects of an opioid overdose by helping the person to breathe again. Residents would have to go through and order process to get the drug before the law passed.
