New Levy Proposed By Marion City Fire Department

A new levy for the Marion City Fire Department went before Marion City Council for the first time Monday evening. A meeting for the 2.75 mill levy will be held on December 16th. The meeting will discuss the levy proposal and to decide in what form of the levy should be put on the March ballot. The levy will pay for building a new main fire station, as well as other capital needs over the next 30 years, including a $1.1 million ladder truck in 2024. it wall also pay for renovations to the two outlying fire stations and new medic and fire trucks. The proposed 2.75-mill levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home 96 dollars per year and would generate an estimated $1.15 million per year at full collection.
