Marion Police Major Jay McDonald was defeated Thursday in his run to lead the National Fraternal of Order of Police. McDonald decided to run in May when the then FOP President Kenneth "Chuck" Canterbury Jr. was nominated by the White house to head up the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Patrick Yoes, a captain with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana was chosen at the FOP's biennial conference in New Orleans to lead National Fraternal of Order of Police.
McDonald was vice president of the National FOP from 2015 to 2019.and president of the FOP of Ohio from 2010 to 2018.
