Meredith Wilson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy THE MUSIC MAN, directed by Clare Cooke, July 13-July 21 at the historic Marion Palace Theatre.
The Music Man has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation. Five show dates are scheduled for Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m.; Friday, July 19 & Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to order tickets early for the best available seating.
The Music Man follows Harold Hill, a fast-talking traveling salesman, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. This award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American favorite, thanks to quirky characters, charmingly dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets, and sentimental ballads, which have become popular standards.
The production stars Ron Boose as the fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill, Sara Grote as Marian Paroo the librarian, Dustin Rawlins as Marcellus Washburn, Morgan Schwartz as Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn, John Garnes, II as Mayor George Shinn, Leah Menzie as Mrs. Paroo, Eric Walker as Jacey Squires, Tanner Wink as Ewart Dunlop, Kain Anderson as Olin Britt, Bishop Oldfield as Oliver Hix, Brady Wink as Tommy Djilas, Madisen Schenk as Zaneeta Shinn, Elliana Schenk as Gracie Shinn, Brody Cahill as Winthrop Paroo, Katelyn Wicker as Amaryllis, Bob Sullivan-Neer as Charlie Cowell, Kevin Emigh as Constable Locke, Valerie Dunmire as Mrs. Squires, Carina Geissler as Maud Dunlop, Sadie Wink as Alma Hix, Kara Adkins as Mrs. Britt, Audrey Watkins as Ethel Toffelmier, and Doug Ford as Train Conductor.
