A newly released federal report says listeria was found at the Velvet Ice Cream manufacturing facility in Utica. According to yesterday's release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, inspectors say they found unsanitary conditions at the plant during a review between January 23rd and February 14th. The FDA says nine environmental swabs tested positive for listeria, which can lead to food poisoning symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. Officials say the company is now required to establish a food safety plan to provide assurances the violations will be corrected.
