Members of the public are invited to attend the Annual Marion Campus Job, Internship & Education Fair in the George H. Alber Student Center Gymnasium on Wednesday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is cooperative effort of Marion Technical College, The Ohio State University at Marion and Ohio Means Jobs - Marion County.
“One stop could change your life,” said Shannon Niedzwicki, Director of Career Services and Student Life for Marion Technical College. “It takes a lot of effort to land one interview. This allows you to meet dozens of employers at once. Don’t miss out.”
Jobseekers should bring resumes and wear professional attire as some businesses may schedule interviews or hire on the spot. This is a great opportunity to make career connections and also explore educational opportunities to add new skills to your resume. There are still a few spots available for employers who want a table, which is just $25. Register or search employers at http://bit.ly/MarionJobFair.
According to Ohio Means Jobs - Marion Administrator Ronald Meade, “This is a great opportunity for our business community and job seekers to connect and grow our local workforce.”
While it can be intimidating to put a resume together for the first time, or the first time in many years, local residents can get free help from Ohio Means Jobs – Marion. Just call (740) 382-0076. They can help polish a resume, post it online, and even print out copies to bring to the job fair on resume paper. They also offer interviewing tips.
“Marion is America’s Workforce Development Capital. When an employer finds a worker who is a great fit, everyone wins,” Meade shared.
Coordinator of Career Services at Ohio State Marion, Jane Arnold, believes in addition to the opportunity for both college students and community members to connect with area employers, this is about networking.
“It is important for students and community members to get out and meet employers and make connections. Attending the job and internship fair is an excellent way to learn about what opportunities are available in the area, and could help you land that next job or launch a career.,” Arnold states.
Dozens of companies will be there, representing manufacturing, health care, government and nonprofit agencies. Some of the employers include ArcelorMittal, the Boys Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Club, Marion City Schools, the Marion Police Department, OhioHealth, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Ohio Health, Vaughn Industries, the U.S. Postal Service and more.
