Pilot Identified In Union County Plane Crash

The pilot who was killed in a twin-engine plane crash Sunday in Union County is being identified as a retired Air Force colonel. Officials said Matthew Hayden was flying from Dayton when his plane lost altitude and crashed in a field outside Plain City. At a press conference, the Union County Sheriff's Department said Hayden was flying on his way to visit a friend when his Cessna 421-B went down during a heavy snowstorm.

The National Traffic Safety Board would not say the weather was the cause of the crash and said it could take up to 18-months before they can officially determine the cause of the crash.
