Edward “Carl” Metz, age 54, of Ashley, passed away Tuesday morning, January 29, 2019, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
On November 20, 1964, he was born in Columbus, OH, a son of Janet Lee (Anderson) Boyd and the late Julian Carl Metz.
Carl always wanted to live life like a rock star. He loved listening to rock music, especially on 99.7 The Blitz out of Columbus, and was rather good at playing the drums. He also enjoyed WWE wrestling, NASCAR, and spending time at the beach.
Carl was a trip. He had a crazy sense of humor and possessed a caring heart. He was always the cool guy in the room.
Carl is survived by his two sons: Ryan Brown and Jacob Taylor; two grandchildren: Miles and Addison; his mother, Janet Boyd; a brother, Terry (Natalie) Lindsay and their children: Ava, Aleena and Eagen; three sisters: Kristina (Salvador) Galvez and their children: Daniella, Steven (Jeannie) and Justin, Melissa McGuirk and her children: Joshua (Jessica), Jessica and Jada, and Patricia (Bailey Jr.) Davey and their children: Jacqueline, Thomas and Logan; and his adopted brother, Dakota Metz.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremy McGuirk.
Carl’s family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.
