The Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) welcomes two new board members, Becky Seitter and Ted Frericks, who were sworn in to begin their four-year term effective this month.
Seitter, now retired, was a speech pathologist for 41 years. She served kindergarten through high school age children at Marion City Schools and spent her final three years of employment at Highland and Northmor schools. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Louisville and her Master’s of Arts in Speech Pathology from the University of Cincinnati. Seitter also holds a Clinical Competence Certificate from the American Speech, Hearing, And Language Association.
“I’m excited to serve Marion County Board of DD in this capacity,” Seitter said. “My goal is to ensure those served reach their individual potential for living as full and happy life as possible.” She added that she hopes to provide ideas and insight to benefit the disabled community based on her experience as a parent of a disabled child.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Seitter is the third of seven children. She has been married to her husband, Allen, for 42 years. They are proud parents of three children. Eric (wife; Theresa), Craig, and Dianne Kennel (husband; John). She loves visiting family particularly; her son, daughter in-law and 2 grandchildren in Connecticut; daughter and son-in-law in Dayton; and her family in Louisville, Kentucky; Indianapolis, Indiana; Bethesda, Maryland; and Littleton, Massachusetts. In her spare time she enjoys yoga, tennis, golf, and bicycling.
“Her expertise and knowledge will be invaluable to the County Board with her speech background. She is also a parent, which gives us priceless insight and direction,” Cheryl Plaster, superintendent of the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities says of Seitter’s appointment.
Frericks, is a partner and practicing attorney at Frericks and Howard, A Legal Professional Association. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from University of Notre Dame and his Juris Doctor (Cum Laude) from The Ohio State University, College of Law. He served on the editorial staff of The Ohio State Law Journal while in law school. Ted is a lifelong resident of Marion. He and his wife, Jo Ann, have one grown son, Ted J., and enjoy spending time with him and his wife, Karen. He hopes to assist those served to be “the best they can be” and also provide MCBDD with practical business and legal experience
