Charles Bowling

Reverend Charles Harold Bowling, age 75, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 10, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.

On July 14, 1943, Charles was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the second of four sons of Finley and Brooke (Mauk) Bowling. He graduated from Green Camp High School in 1961.Charles worked at Tecumseh for twenty-two years, and later opened Bowling TV Sales and Service on Mound St. in Marion.In 1961, Charles met his wife to be, Charlotte Moore, at Freewill Baptist Church. They were married on December 13, 1964. They shared almost 54 years of marriage.Charles was an active member of True Life Church, and served as a leader of the Prayer Team, and ministered to those needing healing and hope. He also had a program on TV 39 called “Crossroads”, teaching the Word of God. Together he and his wife Charlotte hosted Prayer Line, also on TV 39, every Tuesday night. His passion was telling people about his Lord, and he ministered regularly at Marion General Hospital.He enjoyed salvaging copper, playing his guitar, and sitting on his deck and studying the Bible. He dearly loved his family, and had a wonderful sense of humor.Charles will be missed by his wife, Charlotte Bowling of Marion; two children: Kimberley (Brett) Gleespen, Jodi “Ziz” (Ron) Frye, both of Marion; six grandchildren: Mallory (Justin) Oman, Zachary (Kidron) Gleespen, Samuel (Hannah) Gleespen, Madeline Gleespen, Caleb Frye, and Jordon Frye; one great grandchild: Ariadne “Arie” Gleespen; three brothers: Melvin (Joyce) Bowling of Caledonia, David (Charlene) Bowling of Marion, and Doug Bowling of Cardington; two special friends who helped him immensely: Phil “Speedy” McCann, and Larry Bradley; several nieces and nephews, and his church family at True Life Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Joshua Gleespen. The family will greet friends from 5-8:00 pm on Friday, December 14, 2018, at True Life Church, 374 N. Main St., Marion, (the former Moose Lodge). His going home celebration will also be held there at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 15, with Pastor Brett Gleespen officiating.
