On August 15th and 16th The Marion County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the United States Marshall’s Northern District of Ohio Office, the Marion County Adult Probation, and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority checked addresses or employment locations of 149 registered sex offenders. Marion County has a total of 167 registered sex offenders of which 7 are currently incarcerated, 11 are registered homeless leaving 149 with registered locations to be verified. The sheriff’s office regularly verifies sex offender registrations however this was an operation to verify the registered addresses or employment of all offenders in Marion County in a short time frame.

This operation has also been conducted in previous years in Marion County as well as other counties in Ohio. As a result of the operation one offender was taken to the Multi County Correctional Center for a sex offender registration violation and arrest warrants are being requested on ten other sex offenders for sex offender registration violations. Seven individuals were arrested for arrest warrants during the operation as well, six of which were not warrants for sex offender registration violations.

Sheriff Tim Bailey would like to thank United States Marshall Pete Elliott for his Office’s assistance with the operation as well as the Marion County Adult Probation Department and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. Sheriff Bailey stated “The sheriff’s office has a great working relationship with these agencies which helps us come together and work operations such as these in an effort to keep our community a safe environment for our residents and those visiting our community.”
