North Central Correctional Complex Satellite Housing Unit Closing

A North Central Correctional Complex satellite housing unit will be closing sometime this summer. Offenders will be transferred out by July 1st.  There are currently around 433 offenders living at the camp. The closing is being done as a statewide effort to save money.  The closing will not affect he other housing units within the prison. Around 2,775 inmates are housed at North Central; it’s a mix of minimum- and medium-security offenders.  The complex in Marion, has been operated by the Management and Training Corporation under a contract with the state, since 2011. According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, it is common for prisoners housed in satellite camps to be transferred to other facilities within the prison system
