Marion Man Acquitted Of A Felonious Assault Charge

A Marion Man has been acquitted of a felonious assault charge stemming from at standoff with law enforcement that happened on January 13th at the Marion Centre Mall.  23-year-old Jared A. Scheck, appeared in a bench trial at Marion County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday. He was found guilty of two misdemeanors, failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer and inducing panic. 

Scheck was arrested in January, following an incident involving a man who was threatening suicide. During the standoff had made threats that he was going to open fire, while pleading with deputies to shoot him. He also attempted to flee the scene.  An unloaded BB gun and a toy gun were found in Scheck’s vehicle. Sentencing for Scheck will be in two to three weeks and the court has ordered that Scheck receives a mental health assessment before then.
