Troopers from the Marion Post of the Highway Patrol are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Whetstone River Road South around 9:27 A.M.
Fred L. Buckner Jr., 53, of Marion was driving southbound on Whetstone River Road South approaching St. James Road. Mr. Buckner lost control of his 2001 Honda Civic on the snowy road, traveled off the right side of the roadway, and struck a utility pole.
First Responders from Fort Morrow Fire and Pleasant Township EMS responded to the scene where they worked to extricate Mr. Buckner from his vehicle. Mr. Buckner was transported to Marion General Hospital where he passed away.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Fort Morrow FireDistrict and Pleasant Township Fire Department.
Mr.Buckner was wearing his seatbelt the crash remains underinvestigation.
