An accident in Marion involving a pedestrian is under investigation. Police said a 12-year-old girl was struck by a van driven by Roger L. Mitchell, age 48 of Marion, traveling westbound on Marion-Cardington Road near Oakdale Drive last night around 7:30 p.m. The girl was hit when she was walking from her driveway across the road, the van tried to swerve to miss her. State troopers said the girl was on foot and her dad tried yelling for her to stop. The child was taken to Marion General Hospital, she was then transported to Nationwide Children's Hospital. Her condition wasn't immediately known. According to Police the driver of the van was cooperative and they don't believe texting, drugs, or alcohol were involved.
