Fatal Accident on U.S. 23 in Wyandot County

The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred Saturday (July 1st),  at approximately 10:30 pm on U. S. Route 23 at CR 42 in Wyandot County. 

Normurod Roziko, 35 of Niles, Illinois was attempting to make a U-turn on U.S. 23 northbound at CR 42 in a commercial motor vehicle.  A 2010 Ford Edge was traveling northbound on U.S.23 driven by Darlene A. Kujawa, 67, of Findlay.  The commercial motor vehicle failed to yield while turning left and was struck by the the Ford Edge.  Mr. Roziko, the driver of the commercial motor vehicle was not injured.  Mrs. Kujawa, the driver of the Ford Edge was airlifted to St. Vincent Medical Center and later was pronounced dead by the Wyandot County Coroner at the hospital.  A 7 year old male, one of three passengers of the 2010 Ford Edge, was airlifted to Blanchard Valley, Findlay, and released.  The two other passengers, ages 6 and 4 were both airlifted to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, and are listed in stable condition. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.

The traffic crash caused U.S.23 northbound and southbound lanes to be shut down for approximately two hours and forty five minutes. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, Wyandot County EMS and Upper Sandusky Fire Department.
