How can the average person keep track of 90 online accounts? The answer is simple-they can't. Not only is it a problem in the workplace but about one-third of online shoppers abandone their purchases at checkout because they can't remember their passwords. This according to a study done by Mastercard and the University of Oxford. Over 50% of people use the same or similar passwords. Twenty-one percent of users forget passwords after 2 weeks, and 25% forget one password at least once a day. Online sites have different requirements for passwords. Some demand that they be a certain length. Some ask for symbols or require alphanumeric combinations. All in the name of security. Users tend to get extremely impatient after just one or 2 minutes. At some sites, those who reset passwords must wait to receive an email, sometimes they have to reply to another confirmation, or contact someone in the IT department to reset the password. No wonder people are stressed when they get home from work-and then the cycle begins all over again.
