Early Morning Motorcycle Accident Kills Marion Man

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle crash that killed a Marion County man and injured his female passenger.

The accident occurred around 2:30am Sunday, June 25th, on St. Rt. 746, north of Co. Rd. 156 in Morrow County.

According to OSP, Aaron Howlett, 34, of Caledonia, was driving his motorcycle north on SR-746 when it went off the right side of the road. The cycle hit a mailbox and a traffic sign before overturning. Both Howlett and his passenger, 33 yr-old Tara Carney, of Caledonia, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Howlett was pronounced dead at the scene. Carney was MedFlighted to OSU's Wexner Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol say that drugs and/or alcohol are suspected in the crash, and that neither Howlett nor Carney were wearing helmets.

The accident remains under investigation.
