On May 8, Officers from the Marion Police Department responded to the Northwest section of the city for a report of a rape of a child. It was reported that an acquaintance of the family had raped the child and was then involved in a physical altercation with the father of the victim. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement being notified.
Officers and Detectives of the Marion Police Department investigated the case and eventually located Michael Brown (DOB 11-25-76) of Marion in Wyandot County. Brown attempted to resist arrest and was subdued after Officers deployed their Tasers.
Brown was taken to Marion General Hospital for injuries suffered in the altercation with the victim’s father. He was since transferred to Grant Hospital for further treatment. Upon the conclusion of his hospital stay, he will be brought back to Marion County for formal charges.
“This is an extremely serious case and we are grateful to have Mr. Brown off of the streets. We will continue to pray for the young victim in this incident” said Major Jay McDonald.
Brown will face a multitude of charges, including Rape.
The Marion Police Department was assisted in this case by Officers and Detectives from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.
