The Marion County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an apparent homicide that took place sometime late Wednesday.
Thursday, April 27, just after 9am, the residents of 2391 Pleasant Hill Road came out of their home to find 68-year old John Strickland dead on their front porch. Strickland lives next door, off-and-on with his wife. It appears Strickland was shot in the back. Strickland's wife was not at the scene and the Marion County Sheriffs Department began to search for her as and her well being. She was later sought out as a "person of interest." Later in the day, she was located by Licking County Sheriff Deputies at her sisters home with the vehicle they believed her to be driving. She indicated to the deputies near Newark that she was having shortness of breath and was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital for treatment. Marion County Deputies are in route to interview her as a suspect, at this time.
Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey is stressing to residents that there is no reason to believe that anyone in our community is in danger, as it appears to be a domestic violence incident.
This is still under investigation; we will have more information when it becomes available.
