On Saturday at 9:53am, Sheriff Kent and 3 deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Monnett New Winchester Rd, and New Winchester Center Rd., to a 2 vehicle injury crash. Whetstone Twp. Vol. Fire Department and Life Support Ambulance also responded.
Carol A. Mullins, age 44 was southbound on New Winchester Center Rd. approaching the intersection of Monnett New Winchester Rd.
Chad M. Carey age 37, was westbound on Monnett New Winchester Rd., approaching the intersection of New Winchester Center Rd.
Mullins entered the intersection, turning east onto Monnett New Winchester Rd. and was struck by Carey, who was travelling westbound. Both vehicles went off the south west side of the intersection, coming to rest in a yard.
Chad Carey and 3 passengers were transported to Galion Community Hospital by Life Support for medical treatment. The remaining passengers were transported to the hospital by family to be checked out.
Mullins was pronounced deceased at the scene. An investigator from the Coroner’s Office was also on scene. Mullins was transported to the Galion Community Hospital, and later transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
Carey had two adults Melissa R. Carey, age 36 from Bucyrus, Frank A. Conrad, age 56 from Akron, and five juveniles in his vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this crash. No citations have been issued at this time.
